Recognizing the impact of sanitation on public health, poverty reduction, economic and social development
and the environment, the UN General Assembly put the spot light on the issue by declaring 2008 the
International Year of Sanitation. The goal is to raise awareness and to accelerate progress towards the
Millennium Development Goal (MDG) target to reduce, by half, the proportion of people without access
to basic sanitation, by 2025.

At least 2.6 billion people do not have access to latrines or any basic sanitation facilities. As a result
millions suffer from a wide range of preventable illnesses such as diarrhoea which claims thousands of
lives each day, primarily young children. Improving quality sanitation is a world renowned desire as it will;

Improve human health. Generate economic benefits. Contribute to human dignity and social development.
Sustain the environment. Minimize and reduce poverty, to mention but a few.

Quick Facts

1. Every fifteen to twenty seconds a child between 0 and 5 years dies from diarrhoea caused
   by poor sanitation.
2. At the current rate of progress the global target will not be met until 2026 -11 years to
   late. This will result in the deaths of an additional 10 million children.
   Had they lived, these children could have contributed 61 billion U.S. To their countries
   economics.
3. 433 Million School days are lost annually worldwide due to diarrhoea disease.

years developed a character of passionate involvement in bringing about high quality, sustainable solutions

Manufacturing Process and Specifications

The KruLloo Structures are manufactured with High Reinforced Cement, 52.5 Mpa on
a 28 day cube test.

In accordance with the standardized guidelines, impact load tests were conducted.

All KruLoo panels subjected to these tests passed.
The base slab load tested @ 1.5 kN/m² (1500 kg per m²) and above.

The KruLoo Concrete Super Structure consists of;

• 1 x Base panel
• 4 x Side Panels
• 2 x Back panels
• 1 x Roof Panel
• 1 x Galvanized Door

Required Tools for the Erection of a VIP Toilet.

1. Spirit Level
2. Heavy Duty Gloves
3. Rubber Hammer
4. A tool will be provided for the assembly of the structure.

Design an Training

The KruLoo Basic Sanitation Structure (VIP Toilet) is designed to create employment
opportunities for the people in the local communities (Men and Women).
The Structure allows for a dust free interior with and aesthetically smooth finish on the inside
of the toilet.

Proper training is provided in the assembly of the structures and all trainees will receive a
certificate of competence in the construction of the KruLoo Basic Sanitation Structure System.
As KruLoo ONLY make use of Local Community labour for the installation process, uplifting the
Local Community and ensuring a successful project from start to finish.

Transportation

All panels are packed and strapped in sets and transported on a 20 ton or smaller crane trucks.
Twenty Five Units an be accommodated on a 26 ton truck.

Offloading and Handling on site

All panels are mechanically offloaded and NOT by hand. 2 - 4 People, both men and women,
can carry the panels.

It is important to note that the panels must not be abused at any time.
